Difference Between Microneedling, Microblading and Ombre Brows

Cosmetic makeup procedures used to be for those who had “reached a certain age” suggesting that this service was really for the more “mature” client. However, that has certainly changed and microblading and cosmetic tattooing are now sought after by women (and men) across all age groups, in particular among the 18-34 crowd. The goal: to make life easier and to have fun playing with our ideas of beauty!

Unless you’re working in the beauty field or are a beauty connoisseur you may not be familiar with all of the available procedures, or their names. As two procedures sound quite similar it is easy to mistake microblading with microneedling. There are some important distinctions between these and similar services.

Regardless of their differences – one thing is for sure: you’ll never plan on using another brow product again.

There are many different words and many different ways to describe permanent/semi-permanent eyebrow tattoos. It is confusing but this will hopefully clear things up and set the record straight.

The type of permanent makeup solution best suited for you will be based on your age, skin type (normal to oily skin) and lifestyle. A knowledgable permanent makeup professional will be able to ask you discovery questions and direct you into the best approach.

This graphic shows at a high level the names and general look and feel for each brow type.

This image above really only offers a quick thin-slice on styles and terminology. For more in-depth details do check in with the chart below!

So, as you can see, there are different approaches, different tools and different angles all aimed at giving you that perfect permanent look. Regardless of the technique it is important to emphasize that permanent makeup is actually only semi-permanent.  In all cases not every hair or all pigments retain and their lifespan can vary. For that reason all permanent techniques require that an annual touch-up be scheduled in order keep your brows and colour fresh.

Send us your favourite examples of each of the above techniques. I want to know those photos that influenced you – that pushed you over the edge and made you decide to try a life of permanent makeup. The photos can also be of yourself after getting it done or they can be of your favourite celebrity. Maybe you saw a photo of a friend or online influencer who had cosmetic permanent makeup.

How do you know whether permanent cosmetic makeup is right for you?

1. Do you value your time, but struggle to get out the door in the morning?

2. Have you tested other long-lasting makeup like Lipsense and enjoyed keeping the colour and look fresh and lasting many hours or days?

3. Do you work out, swim or spend a lot of time doing activities where a make-up refresh is required?

4. Do you wish that you could maintain a perfect natural look without having to routinely check the mirror to see if everything is still okay?

5. Do you find it difficult to draw or see fine lines or details?

If you answered yes to any of these questions then permanent cosmetic makeup is worth it! Book online today!
