Members of the Canadian Forces lead busy and demanding lives. Their sacrifices reach into every area of their personal and professional life. They are widely recognized for their bravery, efficiency, and resourcefulness. Ivonne Sanchez Beauty has received questions about whether Canadian Forces personnel are permitted to participate in tattooing, and cosmetic tattoo in particular. These questions and this topic are always on our mind due to the community in which we operate.
CANFORGEN 121/19 DIRECTION AND GUIDANCE FOR TATTOOS is one of the most recent policies that sets out the guidelines for Tattoos, cosmetic or otherwise.
The guidelines say:
THE ONLY BODY PARTS WHERE TATTOOS ARE PROHIBITED ARE THE FACE AND THE SCALP EXCEPT FOR:
COSMETIC TATTOOS THAT ARE NATURAL-LOOKING IN SHAPE AND COLOUR or …TATTOOS FOR WHICH AN ACCOMMODATION REQUEST HAS BEEN APPROVED BY THE CHAIN OF COMMAN
We strongly encourage any member of the Canadian Forces who is interested in cosmetic tattoo (e.g. Microblading, Nano Brows, Permanent Makeup, BB Glow, or Camouflage Tattoo) to consult first with their Commanding Officer or Direct Report before making any tattoo or cosmetic tattoo decisions.
