LASER FAST FACTS
What Is The Difference Between Laser and IPL?
How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?
Using pulses of light the beam is absorbed by the pigmentation and blood vessels of the hair follicle. When the light is absorbed it is converted into heat which then destroys the follicle preventing future hair growth. The wavelength of the laser leaves surrounding tissue untouched. The results: clean smooth skin.
Why Are Multiple Treatments Required?
Hair follicles vary in their active and dormant stages. With each treatment the light passes over the entire skin surface but only those follicles that are “active” will be captured. When a follicle is dormant the laser light cannot be absorbed and the follicle remains unaffected. Only 10% of your hair is actively growing at any given time, which is why multiple treatments are required to treat all hair follicles.
Are There Any Side Effects Or Risks from Laser Hair Removal?
The risks from laser hair removal are minimized when the procedure is performed by a trained and experienced technician. Side effects from laser hair removal are uncommon. Potential risks include burn, hyperpigmentation and viral infection. For more information on cosmetic laser treatments and risk read our Cosmetic Laser Treatments page.
What About Radiation?
Not to worry. The type of radiation in Laser Hair Removal is non-ionizing radiation. This isn’t nuclear, x-ray or ultra-violet radiation, which is completely different.
Laser hair removal is still the most popular aesthetic procedures when it comes to getting rid of unwanted hair. This treatment has been the most globally recognized standard for all genders, aged 18+.
Owing to advances in technology, laser hair removal is faster, more convenient and among the most affordable options to remove large areas of hair with minimal discomfort and without any downtime.
